
The close association of senior IAS officer M Sivasankar with Swapna Suresh, the prime suspect in the diplomatic smuggling case, is likely to invite serious disciplinary charges against the IAS officer as he has committed serious violation of rules under the all India services (conduct) rules, 1968. “They should scrupulously avoid over-patronisation and indiscriminate and frequent acceptance of hospitality, particularly of an informal nature, from foreign nationals or Indian nationals employed by foreign missions,” say the conduct rules.
