Four days after the Mamata government stayed all activities relating to the preparation and update of National Population Register (NPR) in West Bengal as part of its opposition to the Citizen Amendment Act , Kerala too followed suit. In an order issued late on Friday evening, the LDF government stayed all activities connected with the updating of NPR. “Considering apprehensions among the general public about that the conduct of NPR-related activities would lead to national register of citizens (NRC) in the wake of Citizenship Amendment Act 2019, the government orders to stay all activities connected with the updation of NPR in state,” the order issued by principal secretary (general administration department) KR Jyothilal said.from Thiruvananthapuram News, Latest Thiruvananthapuram News Headlines & Live Updates - Times of India https://ift.tt/2rZsRN8
