
Following growing pressure from the public and within his party, including its central leadership, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said late on Sunday that the state government does not support the police’s decision to foist UAPA charges on two student activists of the CPM who were arrested on Friday in Kozhikode for suspected Maoists links. "UAPA won't come into effect just because police charge a case. Government needs to review it, also Justice Gopinathan commission has to approve,” the CM said.
